Jerzy Tworek, President

Jerzy graduated with a master’s degree from a physical therapy program in Poland in 1983. After working as a physical therapist for ten years, he came to the United States and worked as a physical therapist in nursing homes, outpatient clinics, hospital, and home services.

Years later, in 2000, Jerzy’s wife Elzbeita suffered severe back pain and became bedridden. She was treated with traditional modalities and exercises—but without results. Seeking relief for his wife, Jerzy was inspired to investigate new, non-traditional ways for Elzbieta to heal.

Elzbieta began to find relief in her first visit with Peter Ulmer, a Polish physical therapist who studied Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT). He was able to provide Elzbieta with the healing she desperately needed. After three months of IMT treatments, Elzbieta fully recovered and returned to working without pain and playing sports.

Observing the powerful effects of the IMT treatments on his wife was a paradigm shift for Jerzy. He wanted to understand why the IMT techniques and treatments were more effective than traditional physical therapy. Over the next five years, he studied Integrated Manual Therapy under the direction and supervision of Sharon Giammatteo PhD, P.T., MT., the acclaimed creator and provider of IMT’s most advanced techniques. In 2006, Jerzy graduated from the Connecticut Integrative Manual Therapy School with honors.

Jerzy’s whole-hearted belief in IMT and witnessing the positive results from the technique in his patients inspired him to become a full-time IMT practitioner. He opened his private, outpatient clinic in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he serves patients from around the world.

Jerzy is a prime source for easy healing. He has advanced manual therapy skills, many years of experience with a wide variety of ailments, and an intuitive ability to sense and provide what the body needs. Jerzy has helped hundreds of people to feel relief from pain and injuries, avoid surgeries, maximize their athletic performance, maintain well-being, and proactively fine-tune their health to levels that they did not know were possible.

In 2017, Jerzy injured his spine quite severely. This accident put to the test all that he had learned about physical therapy and trauma. Like his wife’s experience with healing from her back pain, Jerzy found that IMT’s hands-on healing approach was the most successful therapy to enable him to return to a normal life. For Jerzy to be a patient rather than a provider was a dramatic experience for him. He appreciates every doctor and provider of physical therapy, acupuncture, and reiki who helped him to recover.

Jerzy’s personal healing journey also inspired him to create a new model of therapy for people who have spinal disc problems. Whether it’s his own personal experience with pain and trauma or the experiences of his patients, Jerzy is always learning and applying new techniques to help people feel better.

In addition to helping his clients, Jerzy also has a passion for snow skiing, ice hockey, windsurfing, archery, and fishing. The most successful of these sports for Jerzy has been archery, and he has won the U.S. Senior Olympic championship several times. Always thinking of ways to apply his life experience to both sports and his career, Jerzy has found that the precision required for him to accurately shoot arrows helps him more precisely apply manual therapy techniques to his patients.

What is IMT?

Integrative Manual Therapy is a pleasant, gentle, pain-free, hands-on method of healing, which optimizes not just muscles, but also soft tissue/fascia, joints, ligaments, tendons, bones, energy, and blood flow—all of which affect attitude and state of mind. It helps the immune system work efficiently and aids the healing process.
